Innovative Economic Data

Data on this site is provided and intended to support and strengthen economic development and resilience in communities across the nation. Our interdisciplinary team includes economists, data scientists, community planners, operations researchers, and public policy experts. With data we gather, we apply decision science, data visualization, and advanced computing methods to convey and relay information to interested parties and stakeholders. Find out more about our processes and methodology.

The NERDE is designed as a clearinghouse to bring resources from across the federal landscape together for easy and useful access. If you have questions or need access to technical assistance for the NERDE, please contact [email protected].

Explore and Make Discoveries

Often the most difficult part of applying for a grant is determining whether your community is eligible. We have put together a few tools to explore local area opportunities for several EDA offerings within our Distress Statistics Generator where you can learn more about eligibility to the Public Works and Economic Adjustment Assistance Program or the Disaster Supplemental Program or our Recompete Eligibility Mapping Tool to learn more about eligibility for the Distressed Area Recompete Program.

Explore your area's capacity through data. EDCI's 53 unique indicators depict relative strengths and potential areas for growth or maturation across five capacity areas. These capacity indicators fall into five major categories: Human Capital, Financial, Industry, Infrastructure, and Institutions and Partnerships.

Leverage purpose-built tools to make discoveries. The NERDE Data Explorer provides relevant data, visualizations, research, and context-specific information to help with analyzing and assessing your community.
